June

For Heidi's birthday (owner) this year we went up to Bozeman and the Bozeman hot springs. It is a bunch of pools of different temperatures with natural hot springs pumped into them. It was fun but we didn't get any pictures. Michelle wasn't too sure at first but once she got used to it she had a fun time and actually lasted much longer than I though she would! She surprised me because she actually kept trying to swim. She liked being held on her belly and kicking and moving her arms around. She even put her face in the water a few times. I tried to get her float on her back but she would freak out every single time even with my arm under her back and head. She did really good though!

We had a low key father's day and just kinda bummed around but as crazy as life had been that is exactly what we needed!

My birthday this year was a little, well, crazy! My sister and her family were in Utah for a wedding and had planned on coming up to visit but her daughter got quite sick and so it just didn't work out, not for lack of trying. I was bummed but that is ok.
Joe got me flowers (trust me, this is a momentous occasion), chocolates and a sweet family necklace.

Heidi is super sweet and always makes sure that summer birthdays get a treat with the cast. She must have been inspired to get a cake this time since my birthday pie ended up back in Utah. Also, the cake was really yummy, even the fondant was worth eating!

(Heidi is awesome and made sure they spelled my name right ;)
I didn't get my lasagna or pie but we will eat those sometime this week.
I'm kinda bummed I never got a picture of Michelle and me on my birthday, she was dressed up all cute and she turned 17 months that day! So you should all know what that means? 1 month til nursery!!! (hopefully, i don't know any of the nursery leaders here though so who knows)

What has Michelle been doing lately?

This is just some notes I was making for our scrabook/ journal and I thought I would share!
What Michelle’s been up to:
·         Jibber Jabbering! She has gotten to be very vocal and often seems to be telling stories, we have complete conversations even though she isn’t using words. Michelle has said a few things but the words she has said with meaning she has also said without meaning so I’m still not quite sure what I would say her first word is. In April she said “nanana” while very excitedly pointing to a Banana. The last week in May I was convinced she said “high five”. She has also been heard to say “hi, by, ball, mama, dada, shoe”. She now uses Dada for Joe but it is also used anytime she wants to do or is doing something fun….hmmmm….. mama is mostly used when she is sad, cranky, or hungry….hmmmm.
·         Forks and Spoons! Mommy has been working hard to let go of her OCD and let Michelle get messy when needs be in order to learn to use forks and spoons better. Michelle likes having them but still isn’t really using them as the majority of the world does. If we put the food on them she can get it in her mouth still on the utensil but getting it on by herself is rare. One morning at the end of May  I gave Michelle oatmeal with berries for breakfast (normal for her) and a spoon for each hand and let her feed herself. She held both spoons in one hand and ate with her hand. She was still hungry so I gave her some yogurt thinking that would force her to use the spoon. She had other ideas. Yes, a bath followed. She was much messier than the pictures show.

·         Blowing Kisses: At the end of May Michelle started occasionally blowing kisses to us, it is so cute. Now in June with all the Playmill cast eating her up she consistently blows kisses when someone is leaving, although it is more like smashing her hand on her mouth it is still so cute!
·         Pointing to her nose. Every day we ask Michelle questions like where is your nose? Or where are your eyes? Usually to no interest on her side. June 1st Mommy asked her “Where is your nose?” and she non-shallantly pointed to her nose as though it was the most obvious thing in the world!
·         Waving
·         Loving being outside, She stays pretty well covered in the stroller usually but my tan is much better already than it was at the end of last summer, I'm ok with this, I'm still really white.
·         LOVES books and will bring them to you all day long but usually only has patience for one page at a time.
·         Understands pretty much everything we say and will nod her head yes or no… or have a full on toddler melt down.
·         Giving hugs! Sometimes she will just open her arms and give us real hugs, it is so sweet. She also has developed a fancy to holding on to just one of our legs as we walk around trying to get things done.

Where in the world are we?

Yes, we fell off the face of the planet, again, it seems to happen every summer. Last night my phone wouldn't even recognize that I was in the US and refused to even text message. Good times. Where are we? West Yellowstone. Why?  Playmill Theatre's 50th season (the actual anniversary is on my birthday), Joe's 25th season, Joe gets to perform with his parents in Fiddler on the Roof. He is the mean old..err. young... constable. Yup that pretty much sums it up! We love the people we work with but it gets harder every year to leave our "normal" life and pack up here for a while. This year it has been really hard for Michelle, last year she was young enough it didn't matter so much, this year she is not so happy about it, Joe is SUPER busy and Michelle is sick of me. It's just much harder than we thought it would be but isn't that life? As I write this the poor girl is screaming because she is so exhausted but doesn't want to sleep at the moment. Unfortunately when I hold her to calm her down it usually just starts the cycle all over again.
But we do have fun times too, they just usually increase once rehearsals are over (two weeks!). We did go have a bonfire by the lake with the cast this last week (and yes those clouds are real). By the way, I totally wore the wrong shoes, we hadn't planned on hiking down to the beach but it was too pretty so that is where we ended up doing the bonfire.

This week is Heidi's birthday (owner) which is like a holiday for us, I wonder what fun thing we will do this year? Last year we went to a small waterpark. http://bidwell-1-2-3.blogspot.com/2012/06/catch-up-time-sorta.html
